Die PIC18-Q84-Familie erweitert die 8-Bit-MCUs durch die Kombination eines umfangreichen Arrays von Core Independent Peripherals (CIPs) mit CAN FD (Controller Area Network Flexible Data Rate).Diese kostenoptimierten MCUs enthalten zeitsparende CIPs mit bis zu 48 Pins und bis zu 128 KB Flash-Speicher. Die Familie führt neue Funktionen und Peripheriegeräte wie den Universal Timer (UTMR) mit Anpassungsmöglichkeiten ein. Dem 12-Bit-ADC wurde eine Kontextumschaltung mit Berechnung zur Automatisierung der analogen Signalanalyse für die Echtzeit-Systemantwort hinzugefügt. Darüber hinaus enthält es branchenübliche Optionen, JTAG Boundary Scan, 32-Bit-CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) mit Speicherscan beim Booten für zusätzliche Systemsicherheit. Systementwickler können erheblich davon profitieren, indem sie Zeit sparen, da es wesentlich einfacher ist, ein hardwarebasiertes Peripheriegerät zu konfigurieren, als eine gesamte Softwareroutine zu schreiben und zu validieren, um eine Aufgabe auszuführen.
