By changing standard 4.2-V charge voltage to 4.1 V or lower, rechargeable lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery cycle life can be extended at low temperature. This application report presents a simple external circuit for achieving a power-path management function while maintaining an overvoltage protection function and blocking reverse current for low-cost linear battery chargers such as the bq2408x .
